As principal designer and owner of Karen Kempf Interiors, Karen has developed her successful design firm from the ground up. After relocating to Wisconsin from California in 2004, she opened her first design studio in a historic building in downtown Waukesha. Karen started her design career in the fashion industry, where she worked as an assistant editor for GQ Magazine in New York City. It was there she discovered interiors to be her passion. While styling photo shoots, Karen was exposed to many exceptional interiors and varied architecture. This experience motivated her to enroll in The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in San Francisco and to pursue interior design as a career. After obtaining her design degree, Karen remained in the Bay Area, working at various design and architectural firms. Karen is knowledgeable about the technical side as well as the creative side of interior design. Her exceptional talents in the area of new construction and remodeling set her apart from many other interior designers. She not only enjoys conceptualizing the overall design, space planning, and finish and furniture selections, but also understands the construction process. Contracts, budgets, deadlines and schedules are all a part of Karen's design vocabulary. Karen is sought after by area builders and architects as someone who understands and can facilitate the design-build process for their mutual clients. Karen brings professionalism, excellence, and dedication to each project she undertakes, and always puts the client's needs first. email: karen@karenkempf.com |
